Special Olympics Hamilton County

Special Olympics Hamilton County, just like other Sports Organizations, our athletes must train 8 – 10 weeks in their sport. From local competitions they are selected to go on to the State Meets. Every 4 years the Special Olympics National and World Games are held. Our athletes must compete at the State Level in order to get selected to go to the Nationals or World Games. At the State level Summer Games, they must win a gold medal and then their name is put into a lottery system to be selected for Nationals or World Games.
Visit WebsiteWe are truly grateful for the Cincinnati Wine Festival’s gift. Your donation, along with others, allows our athletes to attend the Special Olympics State Games in Columbus, Ohio and a chance to be selected for National or World Games. Our athletes train year round in hopes of being selected to attend these games, and without the Wine Festival’s donation we would not be able to send as many athletes.
All money raised to send Hamilton County athletes to the Games must be raised locally. This year we were able to send 124 athletes to the State Games. On top of this we were able to send one athlete to the World Games in California, Sheryl Fairbanks, who won a Gold Medal in Bocce Ball. We truly appreciate the Cincinnati Wine Festival for being a local Special Olympics partner!
